According to International Labor Organizations in 2017, thousands of workers lose their lives each day because of high risk in workplace conditions, more than 2,7 million deaths, and 374 million non-fatal injuries each year. Seeing the weight of the case, BMJ is committed to doing our best to guarantee our partner’s well-being in our plan. With that concern, we are proudly announcing our certification in ISO 45001:2018.
ISO 45001:2018 is the new world’s international standard for occupational safety and health (OSH) to protect employees from workplace accidents and disease in the industry. This certification is the result of our continuous improvement, a follow-up to the previously OHSAS 18001:2007 certification. The differences between both certificates lie in the management system; ISO 45001:2018 brings attention to leader responsibility in instigating employee participation in accident prevention, work-related sickness, and legal and regulatory conformity, while OHSAS 18001:2007 limited on OSH risk and internal company issue. The change of scope in ISO 45001 resulting in higher relevancy and range than its predecessor in certifying a solid industrial OSH environment.
To obtain ISO 45001 the industry should have excellent OSH regulations. The firm is obligated to fulfill the requirements: such as risk and opportunity in hazard identification, risk safety planning, and ensuring emergency readiness. Although it complex to acquire, our dedication resulted in BMJ’s certification for ISO 45001:2018 on the 20th of March 2021.
