The Logistics Revolution: Paving the Way to a Futuristic Future

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on logistics in international trade. Challenges emerged for the industry as the supply chain experienced disruptions and demand patterns underwent significant shifts. However, this crisis has also compelled the industry to adapt and prepare for unforeseen obstacles. One notable response has been the increased utilization of technology to streamline operations.

"The industry must integrate Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into its operations to address such challenges," said Iim Abdurrahman, a Logistics Manager at BMJ.

Iim added that despite the challenges posed by COVID-19 in the logistics industry, BMJ remains determined to overcome them. The company recognizes the importance of adaptation and has taken proactive measures by implementing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices to prepare for unforeseen disasters like COVID-19.

BMJ understands ESG practices can help effective logistics planning. By prioritizing the environment, BMJ plans for efficient technology implementation. BMJ calculates carbon emissions and invests in eco-friendly equipment and technology.

"We measure and track emissions accurately and invest in energy-efficient technologies and environmentally friendly equipment," Iim explained. It does not stop here. BMJ adopting Logistics 4.0 and utilizing the Internet of Things enhances its logistics operations, aiming to improve efficiency.

To enhance the reliability and efficiency of BMJ's logistics operations, Iim said that BMJ has a strategy to prioritize fostering strong partnerships with stakeholders. For example, BMJ has obtained certification as an Authorized Economic Operator (AEO), recognized by the World Customs Organization.

"We achieve faster customs clearance, minimize delays, save costs, and ensure seamless logistics operations," he said. By prioritizing strong partnerships and compliance measures, BMJ ensures smooth logistics operations.

Moreover, maintaining competitiveness and sustainability in the future of this industry is essential. Iim Abdurrahman vibrantly said that BMJ has reliable strategies to deal with it. BMJ focuses on staying competitive and sustainable through collaboration. BMJ works closely with internal and external partners, including customers and stakeholders, to gather valuable feedback.

"Engaging stakeholders, such as suppliers, carriers, government, and industry associations, in discussions and forums, help us to grasp market dynamics, regulatory changes, and emerging trends," explained him.

Strategically poised, BMJ embraces tomorrow. This is just the beginning.
